wilting before blooming, sorry i’m late
Solo performance “wilting before blooming, sorry I’m late” premiered 27th of November 2025 in Finland at XS Festival for New Dance and Performance. In the work Nieminen explores bodily experientiality and emotionality in relation to heteronormative structures, rape-culture, misogyny and on the other hand queer pleasure and desire. Delving into aggression, sadness, pleasure and euphoria.
”My emotional body dances the fleshy desires, pleasure and aggression, sorrow and euphoria. The queerness. The politics and poetics of the dancing body. A millennial body molded in rape culture, misogyny, comphet power structures and dynamics. A late bloomer sapphic, long ago—but still late. Fleshing my body, shedding my skin in and out. Breathing in and out and about. Working with the weight on my knees—the bounce, pelvic floor, breath, voice and my fingertips. Dancing the lived experience and reaching out to the ones who were here before me and who are about to come.”
